All potential volunteers are recruited and ongoing volunteers
supervised by the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers
are required to complete the appropriate agency forms,
follow agency procedures, and submit all paperwork to
the Volunteer Coordinator in a timely manner. Every
volunteer is involved in regular evaluation and is expected
to attend ongoing training sessions. The number of required
hours for volunteers varies and is dependent upon the
position. Volunteers are asked to make a minimum six-month
commitment to EDVP upon completion of training. All
volunteers will be provided with a volunteer manual
which includes training materials and additional information.
What
Can I Expect From Working With EDVP?
You
will receive the necessary initial training supplemented
by inservice trainings and will be supervised by the
Volunteer Coordinator and other staff persons. A staff
member will be accessible to each volunteer for support
and advising. Volunteers may request recommendations
or a record of the number of service hours donated.
Also upon request, they may be reimbursed for expenses
and mileage. Volunteers will become familiar with community
resources and develop many valuable transferable skills.
Finally, EDVP volunteers feel that they are contributing
to the mission to end domestic violence and making a
proactive difference in a critical problem facing our
society.
