We
offer an intensive 50-hour training program which includes
an orientation to the agency, an overview of the cycles
and continuums involved in domestic violence, information
and practicum on advocacy-based counseling, active listening
and communications skills, crisis intervention, legal
issues, children's issues, community resources, anti-oppression
training and the role of the advocate. Here is a typical
Training Program Curriculum.
In
addition to the initial training, EDVP provides inservice
trainings for all volunteers and disseminates information
about related trainings offered by other groups or agencies.
