"He would hit my mother and drag her across the floor by her hair. She was pregnant, but he would pin her down hard on the bed. She asked me to
lock the door. I was so little, I had to drag a chair to climb to reach the lock".
-- From a 14 year old girl at My Sister's Home shelter who tells about abuse that happened to her mother eight years ago as though it were yesterday.

Domestic violence statistics are shocking. The stories of the people behind these statistics are truly astonishing. Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) provides a wide range of services that make a difference every day in the lives of the victims of abuse.

Here are some ways that you can make a difference:

Volunteer your time to help with agency services and programs. There are opportunities to work directly with clients, provide support services to the agency and community, or work on technology and graphic design projects.

Make a financial contribution. Only 50¢ of every dollar we receive comes from public sources--we count on private donations for half of our funding. You will receive a tax deduction for monetary donations. You can also donate online.

Shop online. Shop at your favorite online merchants such as Amazon.com, REI and Buy.com through EDVP and a percentage of what you spend will be automatically given to EDVP.

Donate services. Everything from legal services to haircuts to marketing expertise are needed by EDVP's domestic violence clients and the agency itself.

Donate goods. We can use food, clothing, household items and more. Your old cell phone can literally be a lifesaver!

Attend an EDVP event. We sponsor special events throughout the year. You can also organize your own fundraising event through your club, church, or other organization.

EDVP Guilds. Join or start an EDVP Guild--a small group of 12-15 people who support the work of our agency.

Board of Directors Committees. We welcome community members with expertise and interest in fund raising, human resources, events, youth education, technology and more.
